While you could be forgiven for assuming that tempers were permanently on the point of boiling over during Sunday’s Campeonato Carioca derby fixture between Rio-based rivals Botafogo and Fluminense, nothing could be further from the truth.
In fact, Botafogo’s Junior Cesar and Flu’s Diguinho even straddled the club divide and joined in beautiful union at one point, with the two players sharing an incredibly passionate moment after the former had brought down the latter with his hefty tackle – which was made even more sensuous when Brazilian broadcasters added a bit of The Bee Gees to the slow-motion replays…
