Sunday’s triple word score Bundesliga tie between Eintracht Braunschweig and Borussia Monchengladbach finished 1-1 and would’ve probably passed without a mention had the scoresheet not made for such interesting viewing come the final whistle.
Braunschweig opened the scoring for Monchengladbach in the 24th minute when ‘keeper Daniel Davari used his thigh to inadvertently divert a corner into his own net at the front post and that was the way the score remained until the 52nd minute, when Monchengladbach returned the favour.
With defender Filip Daems having played an innocuous back-pass into his feet, supposed Barcelona target Marc-Andre ter Stegen royally cocked up his first touch and ended up side-footing a loose touch into his own vacant net to equalise for his opponents…
Oh dear.
It could happen to anyone, we suppose – but it’s not like Ter Stegen doesn’t have a bit of previous when it comes to utterly calamitous O.G’s…
