Carlos Tevez scored in a European game for the first time since April 7th 2009 (for Manchester United against Porto) last night, thus ending a bafflingly long five-year goal drought when the diddy Argentinian striker weaved through the Benfica back-line and prodded a shot through the legs of goalkeeper Artur to cancel out Ezequiel Garay’s 2nd-minute opener…

Not that the banishing of Tevez’s ice cold streak mattered much come the end of the game (bar giving Juve an away goal), however, as Benfica secured themselves a 2-1 lead going into the second leg when Lima put the perfect finish to a sweeping attacking manoeuvre to put the recently-crowned Portuguese champions 2-1 up going into the second leg…

Full highlights…

Over in the other Europa League semi, Sevilla (who had won 12 of their last 15 games coming into the tie) will take a commanding 2-0 lead into the second leg after two quick-fire first-half goals from Stephane M’Bia and Carlos Bacca saw Unai Emery’s side comfortably see off compatriots Valencia.
