Originally released on 7″ vinyl in 1972, what we have hear is a cracking little pop ditty about Norwich City by a band by the name of The Chic Applin Sound from back when white people called reggae “calypso”.

Give it a listen, it’s a bloody belter…

Fun fact: Despite being a far superior tune, “Norwich City Calypso” is actually the B-side to “The Canaries (In Song)” which was essentially the Norwich City team singing about themselves while backed by The Chic Applin Sound.

    Not bad. Pity their travelling support (or lack thereof) didn’t sing it at Old Trafford last month, choosing instead to sing Liverpool songs throughout the first half. T0ssers…the Championship deserves better.

  2. Rob says:

    Calypso is not what “white people used to call reggae” but an established traditional musical genre from Trinidad and Tobago. I find your description both uninformed and insulting.

    That’s rich coming from a team that has so many plastic fans they melt in with the seating when the sun shines

    @geraldo

    we sang ‘youll never walk alone’ once. it was good fun actually. that was more noise than your 75,000 plastic, prawn sandwich eating fans managed to make in the entire 90 mins!

    Conceived at the request of Director Spike Lee for his film “Do the right
    thing”, this song has became number one on every chart the year it was
    released. A few of these can set a virus on your own computer which supplies hackers entry for your system.
    The new songs were ‘Save Us,’ ‘Everybody Out There’ and the title song, ‘New,’ which has already been released to radio and the internet.
