Soccer - World Cup France 98 - Group A - Brazil v Scotland

Still one of the finest football adverts ever made in Pies’ humble estimation, Nike had the star-studded Brazil side of 1998 (we’re talking Ronaldo, Romario, Denilson, Roberto Carlos, etc) run amok at Rio de Janeiro airport in an advert that introduced the joys of humming “Mas Que Nada” while doing kick-ups to schoolboys across the land.

Eyes peeled for a little cameo from King Eric too…

Nike attempted to recreate the magic for their Joga TV adverts eight years later by having Ronaldinho, Adriano, Kaka (along with veterans of the ‘Airport’ campaign, Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos) and the last generation of Samba superstars dick around in the changing room, but they made the mistake of letting Will.I.Am get involved and the magic just wasn’t quite there…

Still, we’ll always have ’98.
