Cameroon 0-4 Croatia – World Cup Group A – 18th June 2014

Already a goal down courtesy of Ivica Olic’s 11th-minute strike, Cameroon’s slim hopes of making it out of group A were all but extinguished when former Arsenal man Alex Song decided to elbow Mario Mandzukic in the back, right in front of the referee. The Barcelona man was duly sent off for his moment of his madness and not surprisingly, what followed was a thrashing for the African side by a decent but by no means fantastic Croatian team.

After the break the impressive Ivan Perisic made it 2-0 after a poor clearance from goalkeeper Charles Itanje before Mandzukic made it 3-0 for the Europeans. The Bayern hitman then netted his second of the game to give Niko Kovac’s men a 4-0 win and a decent chance of making it to the knockout stages. As for Cameroon, once again their talented squad have failed to impress at a World Cup.
