Colombia 2-0 Uruguay – World Cup Last 16 – 28th June 2014
Colombia secured a deserved place in the last eight of the competition courtesy of a good win against a Luis-Suarez-less Uruguay.
Monaco schemer James Rodriguez was the star of the show for Colombia, netting both goals, the first of which was a thing of beauty. Another one of Los Cafeteros’ best performers in Brazil, Juan Cuadrado, superbly set up Rodriguez for his second in a game where Uruguay struggled to create anything. Indeed, the flat-footed performance of Edinson Cavani meant that the loss of Suarez was all the more pivotal.
Colombia now face Brazil in what should be a cracker while Uruguay go home to ponder what might have been if their star striker had behaved himself.
