We really enjoyed this short film and just thought we’d share it on that basis, and that basis alone.

Here we see David Luiz’s father, Ladislau, explaining what seeing his son playing for Brazil and, moreover, seeing his son playing for Brazil at a World Cup in Brazil means to him.

The video is simply entitled “Verde e Amarelo” (Green and Yellow) – you’ll understand why in due course…

Love the bit about Benfica trying to coerce Luiz into changing his citizenship…

What a line that is!

  1. José Silva says:

No one tried to coerce D. Luiz to play for the Selecção! It’s not like they pointed a gun to his head and demanded that he switched citizenship.

The Portuguese Federation (not Benfica, mind you) asked him if he wanted to play for Portugal, he declined because he knew he could play for Brazil. It’s as simple as that.

I’m happy that he did so, I hate this switching national teams thing.

I don’t understand why people who are probably quite reasonable about emmigration/immigration in general terms become teary-eyed jingoists when it comes to kicking a ball around.

@squiggle: Completely agree with you, being one of those people you mention myself. And I don’t know why I feel like that, to be honest.
