After running riot against Athletic Bilbao last night, that’s now three hat-tricks in four games for Cristiano Ronaldo – a feat which, you probably don’t need us to tell you, is pretty bloody spectacular.
Ronaldo’s three-goal haul was his record-equalling 22nd La Liga hat-trick, drawing the Real Madrid superstar level with the hat-trick tallies of footballing deity Alfredo Di Stefano and La Liga’s record all-time goalscorer (for now): legendary ex-Bilbao striker Telmo Zarra.
The hat-trick also saw Ronaldo score his 11th, 12th and 13th league goals of 2014/15 (in the space of six games!) and his 17th goal of the season in all competitions.
It’s easy to take Ronaldo’s relentless dominance for granted, but that’s some computer game-level nonsense right there.
Truly outstanding – he’s an irresistible force…
According to the chaps over at Squawka, Ronaldo has now scored more league goals per game (2.17) this season than 91 of the 97 other teams across Europe’s top five leagues – i.e, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and the Premier League.
No wonder he’s dancing…
