With the winner of the 2014 Puskas Award set to be announced at the annual FIFA Ballon d’Or gala in Zurich next Monday, those Brick-by-Brick chaps over at the Guardian have been busy faithfully recreating all three of the goals on the final shortlist (voting is still open) in Lego.

While James Rodriguez’s scorcher against Uruguay and Robin van Persie’s swan dive against Spain both look splendid, it’s definitely Stephanie Roche’s exquisite volley against Wexford Youths that looks the best in brick form…

Here’s the real thing for comparison’s sake…

Stone cold belter, though we’re pained to say that James’ goal just pips it for us.

Totally agree! Best Lego version (though they’re all pretty cool).

I had not seen the real goal before, my god it’s special.

I’d ask her to marry me if I wasn’t already.
