West Bromwich Albion 1-0 Hull City – Premier League – 10th January 2015
New Baggies’ boss Tony Pulis saw his side battle to a hard-fought 1-0 win over Hull at the Hawthorns on Saturday.
Hull’s chances of getting something out of this clash were somewhat scuppered by first-half injuries to striker Nikica Jelavic and Abel Hernandez but the Tigers worked hard throughout the game and probably deserved a point.
Brown Ideye missed a great chance for the hosts in the second period but the goal eventually came on 78 minutes. Saido Berahino was the goal-hero for West Brom, firing home from close-range after a free-kick inside the Hull box. Tigers’ boss Steve Bruce will no doubt be livid at the build-up to the free-kick, with ‘keeper Allan McGregor picking up Ahmed Elmohamady’s back-pass. After that, the Baggies held on to secure a precious three points.
Pulis’ charges go 14th, two points clear of danger while Hull drop into the bottom three.
