Volodymyr Kozlenko filmed on his phone

A Ukrainian footballer has been branded a “clown” after getting himself suspended for using his mobile phone during a recent friendly game.

Volodymyr Kozlenko was filmed casually chatting away on his phone while supposedly “playing” for third-tier side Energiya Nova Kakhova against top flight Olimpik Donetsk during a friendly tournament near Kiev.

According to an official statement made by Olimpik Donetsk after the game, Kozlenko repeatedly pulled the phone from his shorts, “got it out from time to time, called someone and conversed.”

Olimpik, who lost the game 2-1, also lambasted the player’s behaviour as being “anti-football” and “clownery”.

The Kiev Region Football Federation were made aware of the incident and have since suspended Kozlenko for the rest of the tournament as well as banning the referee (as well as his assistants and the official league delegate in charge) for failing to discipline the player during the game.

What a pillock…
