Having been decidedly nonplussed the first time we saw the original Youtube clip a couple of years ago, we here at Pies made a conscious effort to not get sucked into featuring any of the Wealdstone Raider meme “banter” that whipped up recently, seemingly out of nowhere.
However, rather guffawing at a Vine of a drunk guy at a football match, this is something a little different.
When staunch Wealdstone fan Gordon Hill found himself going viral for drunkenly slurring his words and looking for “agro”, he did his best to make a few bob out of it – making celebrity appearances at nightclubs, taking on a manager, meeting McBusted and even releasing a (terrible) Christmas single back in December.
However, over the course of this 13-minute documentary by the chaps over at Copa 90, it’s plain to see just how quickly being a human meme gets old.
In fact, it’s really quite poignant in places…
