Queens Park Rangers 0-1 Southampton – Premier League – 8th February 2015

A last-gasp winner from Sadio Mané secured a deserved win for Southampton at Loftus Road on Saturday, a result which propels the Saints into third place in the table.

Roland Koeman’s side were the better team throughout, with Jose Fonte hitting the frame of the goal in the first-half. That first period also saw youngster Matt Targett taken to hospital with a head injury, although thankfully the defender suffered no serious damage. After the break, the Hoops improved, with Mauro Zarate going close but then, on 93 minutes, Senegal hitman Mané turned Nedum Onuoha far too easily before firing home.

While Southampton’s Champions League quest rolls, managerless QPR (who had academy coach Chris Ramsey in charge on Saturday) stay second from bottom, but only one point from safety.
