There’s nothing we like better than a goalkeeper making his way up the pitch in the dying minutes of a game, desperate to score an equaliser from a corner or free-kick. Well, on Saturday, Swiss glovesman Marwin Hitz did just that. And he actually scored!
With Bayer Leverkusen leading 2-1 and the game well into injury time, Hitz made his forward hoping to make the difference. And after the initial corner had been cleared and then put back into the box, the 27-year-old found himself with the goal at his mercy, before burying the ball in the back of the Leverkusen net. Great scenes! And With both sides fighting for a Champions League spot, that last-gasp effort could prove vital to Augsburg’s Euro-hopes too.
