There’s a fairly good chance you’ve seen this by now but you’ll have to forgive me as I’m playing catch-up today following my week in the wilderness.

Anyway, there were heart-warming scenes which followed the final whistle of Stuttgart’s 3-2 home defeat against Borussia Dortmund on Friday.

Shortly after Timo Baumgartl’s costly under-hit back-pass saw Marco Reus race through to score Dortmund’s third and final goal in the 89th minute, several Stuttgart fans rallied around the distraught 18-year-old defender and consoled him as best they could…

Bravo. So lovely to see.

No barracking, no haranguing, no booing – just real supporters doing their bit to help restore a teenage player’s fragile confidence.

Something tells us the lad will be just fine. With a name like Timo Baumgartl, he’s pretty much destined for stardom.

Craig Gordon screwed up during the Celtic-Inter game last week and gifted them a third goal. He’s done so well for us this season, all the Celtic fans rallied round him with a “One Craig Gordon” chant… this sort of thing is great :)

What would Chelski fans do if it were one of theirs?

  4. Nuno says:

@Neil #2, well, it depends on the player in question, but based on current events, if it was Ramires, Mikel, Cuadrado or Zouma they’d kick him out of Stamford Bridge and sing ‘you-know-what’.

Imagine if this had happened to a Premier League defender. He would be torn to shreds, not just in the stadium, but by all the ‘wits’ on Twitter. I’ve been watching more and more of the Bundesliga recently: beautiful, clean football, clubs that care about their players and supporters, and the best fans in Europe.
