Even he couldn’t believe it

He’s plugging away at Shakhtar Donetsk these days, but Brazilian winger Taison first began his European adventure with fellow Ukrainian side Metalist Kharkiv in 2010.

Having joined Metalist from Internacional for €6million, Taison managed to nigh-on double his asking price in the space of a couple of years, with Shakhtar paying a little over €12million to acquire his services during the 2012/13 season winter break.

We can only imagine that this goal alone (scored a matter of weeks before his departure) must have accounted for at least half of the 100% price hike.

Faced with a long cross sprayed over the breadth of the pitch to him just four minutes into Metalist’s Europa League tie against Rosenborg, Taison summoned up the courage to have a first-time dig and proceeded to lash a bloody flawless Van Basten-esque volley right into the top corner of the scorezone…

Wowserf**kingroonie, as the kids say these days.
