A player who once cost Valencia €25million back in 2006, winger Joaquin never quite lived up to that big-money move from Real Betis.

Now plying his trade in Serie A with Fiorentina, the 33-year-old still shows glimpses of the pace and power which made him such a coveted player.

Against Milan at a rainy Stadio Artemio Franchi on Monday night, Joaquin produced a superb, match-winning cameo performance.

Firstly, the wideman provided a magnificent cross for the Viola’s equaliser (netted by Gonzalo Rodriguez), which cancelled out Mattia Destro’s fortuitous opener. Then, with the game heading towards a draw, the former Spain international powered home a bullet header to give his side a vital victory in the race for a Champions League berth.

The Florence club are now just a point behind fourth-placed Napoli while Fillip Inzaghi’s struggling Rossoneri are 10th. But it’s the superb performance from Joaquin which deserves the spotlight here! FAst forward to 1:33 for the first goal with Joaquin’s assist and then to 2:03 for his winner…

Joaquin, Schwartz, Kaiser, Shimizu, Orellano, Wiart, Yamada, Shaw. All absolute killers on early Pro Evo. None of them seemed to make it except Joaquin for some reason though…

    Inzaghi’s hat though …..

@Mr Chopper From those, only Joaquín had also great marks on Championship Manager (more reliable database; some of those you mentioned were made up by PES database, like Schwartz at least). He was a machine.
Valencia’s 06-07 team was just amazing (Cañizares, Joaquin, Vicente, David Villa, David Silva, Morientes, Ayala, …), but probably having a shit coach (Quique Flores) didn’t help his case.

this brings back memories of that Valencia team a few years back with the likes of Raul Albiol, Silva, Mata, David villa etc. A great team ruined by financial problems. Brings a tear to my eye, even considering Parma who are dissolved now & only a few years ago had Pirlo, Cannavaro, Crespo. Gigi Buffon etc. money is ruining football
