With the Koning Boudewijn Stadium in Brussels selling out in a matter of hours, thousands of ticketless Club Brugge fans flocked to a specially-constructed “Cup Final Village” in Bruges town centre in order to watch Sunday afternoon’s big Belgian Cup Final clash against perennial rivals Anderlecht.
Watching the game unfold on a giant screen, the 9,000-odd Club Brugge fans packed into the square then went through the exact same rigours and elation that those lucky enough to snag tickets went through in the capital – with the whole thing being caught on cameras dotted around the square.
The game eventually finished 2-1 to Club Brugge, who won their first major honour for eight years thanks to Lior Refaelov’s dramatic 92nd-minute winner – a goal which unsurprisingly sparking jubilant scenes at the fan park in Bruges (visible at the 3:23 mark), with the subsequent party then going on long into the night…
