One of Sepp Blatter’s former senior aides, Walter de Gregorio, has been sacked – or rather “forced to quit” – by FIFA after making a really rather good joke about the organisation during a television interview.

De Gregorio, who had been working as FIFA’s director of communications and public affairs (tough gig), appeared on the Roger Schawinksi show on Swiss television where he was asked by the host to tell his favourite joke.

It went something like this…

De Gregorio: “The FIFA president Sepp Blatter, the director of communications and the general secretary are all sitting in a car – who is driving?”

Schawinski: “The answer is?”

De Gregorio: “The police.”

Not bad, is it? You can fast-forward to the 32:00 mark to watch the zinger on this here video…

It’s the way he tells ’em!

Anyway, De Gregorio’s little rib-tickler has since cost him his job, though given the state of the FIFA communications and public affairs department at the moment, he’s probably more grateful than anything.
