One of the better football pundits around, Gary Neville’s shock move from the comforts of the Sky Sports studio to the pressure of the Valencia touchline has been one of the more eye-opening stories of the season. But despite enduring a difficult time in La Liga so far, the former England star looks to be getting to grips with the language (ish).

During Los Che’s recent 1-1 draw with Deportivo La Coruna, both Gary and his brother Phil were filmed giving out animated advice to their players from the sidelines, in both Spanish and England, with a healthy smattering of swearing thrown in for good measure. After getting on the case on a couple of his players, Neville saw former Man City striker Alvaro Negredo rescue a late point for Valencia, which triggered fabulous touchline celebrations…

While Neville has overseen just three wins in his 12 games in charge at the Mestalla so far, with none of those coming in La Liga, the jury is still out on whether he has what it takes as a head coach. However, he certainly looks passionate enough about the job in hand while Mancunian Spanish could be the new Esperanto!
