Ahead of AC Milan’s superb 3-0 win against local rivals Inter at the San Siro on Sunday evening, the Rossoneri fans produced a fantastic tifo which celebrated former England striker Mark Hateley’s famous goal against the Nerazzurri back in 1984.

Hateley’s goal gave Milan their first derby win in six years via a 2-1 scoreline and came courtesy of a magnificent trademark header from the striker who towered above Italian international defender Fulvio Collovati. Here’s a video of the famous strike…

Hateley moved to Milan from Portsmouth in 1984 for a then hefty sum of £1million, joining at the same time as Man Utd midfielder Ray Wilkins. However, he arrived at a time when the Serie giants were rebuilding after a period of scandals and underachievement.

Both Hately and Wilkins would eventually leave in 1987, making way for the the Dutch holy trinity of Gullit-Rijkaard-Van Basten who would bring the good times back to the club.

Hateley moved to Monaco before ultimately enjoying huge success with Rangers in Scotland. However, his famous Derby della Madonnina goal will live long in the memory, as borne out by the superb tifo on Sunday.
