Plymouth Argyle lost defender Jordon Forster for the rest of the season during their 1-0 loss at Barnet last night after the loanee centre-back suffered a “sickening” injury in the most unfortunate of circumstances.

The 22-year-old was rushed to hospital after breaking his jaw in a head-first collision with an advertising hoarding at the side of Barnet’s pitch. He was making only his fifth appearance for the League Two side since signing from Hibs on loan in January.

“He slid off the end of the pitch and hit the barrier full-on at high speed, it was a really sickening injury,” Argyle boss Derek Adams told the Plymouth Herald.

In fact, it proved to be a fairly miserable old night for Plymouth, who also saw striker Ryan Brunt stretchered off the pitch with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

“It’s two players that we will miss here for the rest of the season it looks like,” Adams lamented to BBC Radio Devon.

“From my point of view it’s hugely disappointing, and the 17 minutes of injury time tells you how serious the injuries were.

“It’s a big blow to lose two big players for us and when you’ve got 12 games to go in the season you don’t need to lose any more, we’re tight enough as we are as a squad and we don’t need any more injuries.”

Bummer.
