A Wednesday night Greek Cup clash had to be abandoned after PAOK fans fought with riot police and ignited masses of flares.

The problems started when home side PAOK were denied a penalty late on, with Olympiakos leading 2-1. The irate fans duly rioted, with police firing tear gas as the fans entered the pitch.

Eventually, the officials called the game off in the 90th minute as the trouble escalated.

Ex-Leicester City midfielder Esteban Cambiasso had scored on the night for Olympiakos who will now be awarded an automatic 3-0 win which they’ll carry into the second leg in April. But what amazing (and disturbing) scenes.
