Slovakia bounced back from their opening game defeat to Wales by deservedly beating Russia 2-1 in Lille on Wednesday. Central to the victory was Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik, who topped off a fine all-round display with a cracker of goal.
Hamsik had already set up Vladimir Weiss’s opening goal on 31 minutes before the 28-year-old produced a magnificent finish on the stroke of half-time…

Russia did get one back late on, but Slovakia held on to bag their first points of the competition and set up a heavyweight clash with England next Monday.
As for Hamsik, the gifted star is sure to have caught the eye of some of Europe’s big guns, with a move away from Napoli in the summer a strong possibility.
