While the USA women’s team clash with Switzerland happened a few days ago in Minneapolis, we thought this clip of both Carli Lloyd’s cracking long-range strike and the accompanying bombastic commentary were still worth sticking up.

Picking up the ball midway inside the Swiss half, reigning FIFA World Player of the Year Lloyd unleashed a rocket of a strike which arrowed into the top corner of the Swiss net.

Not surprisingly, the magnificent strike had the US comms team in a bit of a froth, with “It’s hit with no regard for humanity” an instant classic…

I want to hear Martin Tyler screech this the next time Sergio Aguero nets a long-ranger stunner.

As for the game itself, the US would go on to win 5-1, with the 34-year-old Lloyd netting a brace.

Typical American crap. Clearly ripped from “LeBron James with no regard for human life”. YouTube it if you care enough. I am too drunk to bother.

I wish I’d been there to see that in person. What a hit! I’ll be sad when Carli Lloyd retires…

Don’t really get the commentary, but I love the barely audible snigger from someone else after he said it.

Paddy, while I’ll give you that most American commentary is garbage and cliched, I don’t necessarily think it’s fair to say this is ripped from that. I’m American and I’ve never once even heard of the LeBron James bit. Granted I don’t give a single toss about basketball, but still…..

  4. Hootie says:

It’s somewhat common to hear a variant of this during basketball after a vicious dunk.

As for commentary on American sports commentary, our football broadcasting is still experiencing growing pains, as it were. However, Paddy, you can GFY. Hard. With something uncomfortable, like a jagged stick. Different is not always inferior.

  5. Martin says:

I like comments about Americans knowing nothing about football because it gives me the opportunity to remind the commentator, who is usually from the UK, how many WCs our women have won: 3.
