A youthful Real Madrid side put third-tier Cultural Leonesa to the sword in the Copa Del Rey on Wednesday evening, winning 6-1 in a game which saw Enzo Zidane, the son of manager Zinedine, net his first senior goal for Los Merengues with his first shot.

Madrid were already 3-0 up, courtesy of a brace from Dominican Republic international debutante Mariano and a header from James Rodriguez, when the 21-year debutante Zidane netted courtesy of a fine strike, just 18 minutes after coming on as a half-time sub.

A finish reminiscent of his old man, there!

The impressive Mariano (below) would go on to bag a hat-trick with a César Morgado goal making it six goals for Real (Yeray netted a consolation goal on 45 minutes for Leonesa).

Another youngster, Norwegian schemer Martin Odegaard also impressed but it was young Zidane’s goal which was the highlight, coming under the stewardship of his old man…

One wonders if the gifted Enzo will be able to handle the undoubted pressure as he makes the step up from the club’s youth ranks to the first team.

As things stand so far, he’s certainly made a good start!
