One of the pre-tournament favourites, Algeria, crashed out of the Africa Cup on Nations after drawing 2-2 with a second-string Senegal in their final group game.

The Fennecs’ hopes of netting a late winner were also hampered by some bizarre play-acting from Senegal ‘keeper Khadim N’Diaye, who produced a rather exquisite dive whilst taking a goal-kick.

The score was 2-2 late on in the game, with Algeria needing a victory to stay in the competition. However, goalkeeper N’Diaye was having none of it, instead wasting as much time as possible in the most unsubtle way possible…

Magnificently ridiculous!

Leicester’s Islam Slimani had bagged a brace in the game, but it proved not to be enough, with goals from Papakouly Diop and then Moussa Sow meaning that Algeria would finish Group B in third spot with just two points.

As for Senegal, they top Group B and progress to the knockout stages.
