We’ll start with the good news. Fernando Torres has been discharged from hospital this morning after suffering a hefty head injury during Atletico Madrid’s 1-1 draw against Deportivo la Coruna last night.
Torres was left motionless on the turf after colliding with Alex Bergantinos and plummeting face-first into the ground…

The 32-year-old striker was taken to hospital, with Atletico reporting that he’d suffered a “traumatic head injury” and would be spending the night under observation.
However, thanks to a series of social media updates over night, the club were able to assure fans that Torres had undergone an MRI scan and was “stable and conscious”.
Indeed, Friday morning brought with it even better news for concerned fans…

In a statement issued on the club website, Torres thanked everybody for their concern and that he’d be back in action after 48 hours of medically-prescribed rest:
Thank you all for worrying about me and for your messages of support. It’s just been a scare.
I hope to come back very soon!
Jolly good show.
