Tony Adams’ La Liga adventure got off to a rotten start on Sunday, with his Granada side losing 3-0 at home to a weakened Celta Vigo who made 10 changes to their starting line-up ahead of their Europa League game on Thursday,

Adams made La Liga history ahead of kick-off, naming a side comprising of 11 different nationalities, albeit without a single Spanish player.

However, despite his infamous gymnastic training methods, the Arsenal legend saw his side go behind on 23 minutes, courtesy of a goal from Jozabed after some feeble defending (which won’t have pleased the ex-centre-half).

Granada struggled to get back into the game, and they eventually went 2-0 down on 73 minutes via a superb free-kick from Chilean international Marcelo Diaz.

Soon after, things got even worse for Adams and co., with Claudio Beauvue netting from close-range after a rebound to condemn Granada to their 20th defeat of the season.

The Spanish strugglers now find themselves seven points away from safety with just six games to go.

It looks highly unlikely that poor old Tone will be performing any miracles in Spain this season, which is sure to please the legions of sneering goons in the media.
