Germany’s second-string side eased into the final of the Confederations Cup on Thursday, after battering Mexico 4-1 in Sochi.

Despite leaving most his his first teamers at home, German boss Jogi Loew still has a plethora of talent at his disposal and they proved far too strong for the Mexicans on the night.

Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka bagged a brace within the first eight minutes to set the Germans on their way.

Mexico always looked vulnerable at the back and just before the hour-mark, they went 3-0 down, with RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner netting from close-range after a fabulous passing move.

However, Mexico did score the goal of the game, via Marco Fabian’s magnificent 35-yard strike late on.

There was still time for sub Amin Younes to make it 4-1 to the Germans, who weren’t flattered by the scoreline.

Germany now face Chile in Sunday’s final in St. Petersburg in what should be a cracking game.

Despite missing the likes of  Toni Kroos, Mesut Ozil, Mats Hummels, Thomas Mueller and Manuel Neuer, Germany still look a class act and will surely be one of the favourites for next summer’s World Cup in Russia.
