Amiens made their Ligue 1 debut on Saturday against a Neymar-less Paris St Germain, and the new-boys decided to kick off their top-flight adventure in intriguing style.

From the kick-off, Amiens’ striker Seybou Koita launched the ball into touch deep in the Paris half in a move more rugby than football…

Nothing wrong with trying something new!

The game at the Parc des Princes was supposed to see £200m man Neymar make his debut for the hosts. However, the Spanish authorities dragged their heels with the paperwork.

Still, the Brazilian megastar was paraded around the stadium before the game.

Amiens would ultimately lose the game, with Edinson Cavani and Javier Pastore getting the goals, with Neymar enjoying his side’s victory.

Even deploying a robot in attack couldn’t help the Ligue 1 debutantes…

At least they won’t have to face the likes of PSG every week of the season.

I think the kick-off straight into touch (which is not a new thing, although it’s the first time I see it done since kick-off only requires 1 player) has, apart from pushing Paris deep into their own half, something to do with bookmakers
