After roaring into 19th-minute lead, Mainz held on to earn a 1-1 draw against Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.
Gladbach eventually equalised through Jan Vestergaard in the 67th minute but they were almost gifted a route back into the match much earlier, when Mainz goalkeeper Robin Zentner came perilously close to dropping a superb clanger.
Honestly, Zentner’s error almost defies explanation, with the stopper caught playing with an imaginary ball during a momentary lapse of spatial awareness…
Have you ever seen anything like it? It’s like Zentner glitched outside the system for a split second.
Even Gladbach’s social media team had a light-hearted pop while live-tweeting the action…
If Zentner was tweeting this game… 😅#fohlenelf #BMGM05 0-1 pic.twitter.com/xb9EB79w2K
