Reported to be on his way to Barcelona in the summer, flaxen-haired Frenchman Antoine Griezmann once again showed why he is so in demand by netting all four goals in Atletico Madrid’s demolition of Leganes on Wednesday night.

In a week where the shock departures of Yannick Carrasco, Nicolas Gaitan and Miguel Angel Moya saw their senior squad reduced to just 19 men, Atleti didn’t seem overly phased as Griezmann took just 26 minutes to open the scoring after being set up by Koke.

Before the break, Atletico went two-up with Griezmann this time firing home via an outstanding free-kick.

Ex-Chelsea full-back Felipe Luis would provide the assist for Griezmann’s third just before the hour-mark, with the striker producing a superb header.

Another ex-Chelsea star would set up the Frenchman’s fourth and final goal of the game soon after, with Diego Costa providing the cross and Griezmann providing the volleyed finish.

The game would end 4-0 to Diego Simeone’s side, a result which sees them go to within four points of Barca at the top, though the Catalans do have a game in hand.

Alas for Atletico, their star attacker may well be lining out for the La Liga leaders come the start of next season.
