Penarol were forced into taking drastic action when they realised they’d turned up to Sunday’s Uruguayan Primera Division match against Progreso with the wrong-coloured goalkeeper shirt for Kevin Dawson.

Fortunately, somebody in the Penarol camp spotted that one of their travelling fans was wearing an exact replica of Dawson’s orange shirt up in the stands, complete with the ‘keeper’s name and number on the back.

The fan was then ushered beneath the stadium where he was relived of his jersey, only to emerge several minutes later with a complimentary Penarol tracksuit top on instead…

With the officials’ colour conundrum duly solved, the game was then finally allowed to go ahead – Dawson keeping a clean sheet as Penarol ran out 0-1 winners.

We think we know who deserved the Man of the Match award.
