With the amount of abuse referees receive from players, it’s no wonder that sometimes the officials want to dish out a nasty challenge or two.
During the Turkish Super Lig clash between Besiktas and Kayserispor on Sunday, ref Baris Simsek decided to take out a couple of players after just nine minutes of play.
It was all accidental of course (we think), with Simsek’s dismal positioning leading to one body-check followed immediately by a trip…
That’s a yellow card for each offence and a sending-off in our book.
The game would get rather feisty, with the two sides picking up a red card each.
Besiktas ran out 2-0 winners in the end, a result which sees them tighten their grip on fourth spot in the division, with Kayserispor eighth.
