Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goals for Juventus on Sunday as the Serie A title holders beat Sassuolo 2-1 in Turin.

After failing to find the back of the net in his first three games for Juve, Ronaldo finally got on the scoresheet against Sassuolo courtesy of a close-range tap-in on 50 minutes.

The 33-year-old then doubled the hosts’ advantage on 65 minutes, this time producing a superb finish after a swift counter-attack.

Late on, Khouma Babacar got one back for Sassuolo, with a powerful header.

Douglas Costa was then sent off after spitting at Federico di Francesco, with the Brazilian winger also appearing to aim a headbutt and elbow his opponent.

The game would end 2-1 to Juve, a result which sees them extend their 100% winning start to the new season. And with Ronaldo now up and running, the Old Lady are, once again, firm favourites to win yet another Serie A title.

After the game, Ronaldo said:

I was a little bit anxious as expectations were high. I really wanted to score, so I’m happy.

Of course, there was attention after my arrival in Turin, but life is like that.

I’m happy. I’m working well and my team-mates help me to adapt to this championship.
