Elias Gomez got his Argentinos Juniors career off to an absolute flyer against Estudiantes this week with the kind of golazo usually reserved for games of FIFA with your mates.
The 24-year-old was loaned to the Primera Division side from parent club Rosario Central last month, having struggled to hold down a first-team spot with the Canalla.
But he wasted little time in making an impact, scoring an eighth-minute opener for his new employers en route to a 2-1 win on Monday evening.
Meeting a high, looping cross from teammate Franco Moyano, Gomez took to the skies and connected perfectly with the incoming ball in a epic flurry of Cirque de Soleil-esque gymnastics…

The goalkeeper stood no chance, with Gomez’s powerful acrobatics ensuring the ball slammed straight into the corner of the net in a strike that sent the Argentine, his teammates and the watching fans into raptures.
The goal was the first of Gomez’s professional career too. Not a bad way for a defender to open his account!
