Thanks chiefly to fine hat-tricks from Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema (who, at this rate, is surely playing his way out of a January transfer), Real Madrid well and truly obliterated Levante at the Bernabeu last night – smashing eight unanswered goals past their hapless Copa Del Rey opponents…

…It’s hard to pick a favourite out, but Benzema’s cheeky prodded finish to round out his evening’s work just about pips it for me.

But whose top of the table? Exactly, can’t beat Barcelona.

What’s the point of La Liga again? This isn’t good football; it’s the teachers’ team playing the pupils’ team in Monty Python’s “Meaning of Life”. Let’s just skip to El Classico part deux and let’s be done with it!

Er, James, this was the Copa del Rey…

  4. Jeff Banks says:

James’ still has a point. He could also say the Copa Del Ray is equally pointless as we can see by the above result.

La Liga is boring, money isn’t equally distributed and Barca and Real are getting even further away from the rest. Villarreal are currently 3rd, IMO maybe technically better than most PL teams but would struggle to make it into the Europa League.

I disagree with Jeff Banks. Villareal play some wonderful football and really challenged Barca on the Camp Nou. They would fight for third spot with Arsenal.
