Egypt’s players found the stray contact lens in no time
Another terrific day in South Africa, land of the vuvuzelas (I’m learning to tune them out now).
In the Group of Certain Death, an utterly abject USA (FIFA says they’re the 14th-best team in the world. Come on!?) were torn apart by Kaka’s Brazil, while Egypt – who many people continue to underrate – scored a famous victory against the reigning world champs.
The results mean Brazil are definitely through to the semis, while Egypt are well placed to get a result against the USA in their final group game and also make it through to the last four, where they would play Spain. Hmm, this all points to a Spain v Brazil final, and that’s no bad thing.
Highlights of both of yesterday’s matches after the jumpety-jump…

I love that Egypt v Italy photo.
I agree about the US/[insert good national team here] talent gap, but you seem to be changing your tune slightly that perhaps Bradley could be partly to blame.
