Flashback: Bristol Rovers v Aston Villa, 1974/75

Eastville for Entertainment! Holy smokes, football has changed a lot in the last 35 years – if you showed this clip to C-Ron, he wouldn’t recognise it as football.
Watch out for the cheeky scamps who try to trip up their own players using scarves, the heavy landing by one parachutist, and one of the linesman’s facial hair. Tremendous stuff (nostalgic sniff).

  2. I remember a bloke parachuting in to Villa park once on the first day of the season. He got caught up on the roof and had to be cut down.

Is this broadcast from England called “Soccer Special?” I thought Soccer was a bad word over there. I’m surprised to see that word at the beginning of the clip.

  4. That’s odd. I posted the bit about the parachute, I didn’t say anything about the word ‘soccer’!

Briiliant! I love the way there are kids wandering around as if its a match at the park! And is that “cobblers” written on the ball???

  6. Tom Jones says:

Nice to see the league debut of Mister Bater.
