Yes, more tenuous Jacko v football tribute shenanigans. At least one footballer has celebrated scoring a goal by attempting the moonwalk. In Britain at least, the most famous of these is Bas Savage, who currently plays up front for Tranmere Rovers.

Bas was playing for Brighton when he first attracted attention for his celebration. The Brighton Argus even ran a feature on how to moonwalk like Savage/Jacko:

“Step 1: Stand with both feet close to each other, have the left foot slightly ahead of the right foot.
Step 2: Raise the right foot so that you are standing on the front of the right foot. Do not move the left foot.
Step 3: As you lower the heel of the right foot, put all your weight on the right foot and drag back your left foot so that your toes are in line with the right heel.
Step 4: As you drag back, do not push down on the left foot at all or it will not glide. Make sure as you lower the heel of the right foot the left moves at an equal speed.
Step 5: Practice the above steps until you can do it without thinking about it.”

Soccer AM also helped give Savage cult status. Watch their tribute to Savage below:
