Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace against Real Sociedad on Sunday evening saw him draw level with Barcelona’s Lionel Messi at the top of the La Liga scoring charts with 24 goals and also saw him usurp the great Ferenc Puskas as the fastest Real Madrid player to reach 50 league goals.

Puskas managed the feat in the space of 54 games back in 1960, though Ronaldo has now reached his half-century in a remarkable tally of just 51 games.

That said, the fourth goal in Madrid’s 4-1 romp was scored by none other than Emmanuel Adebayor (his second in two appearances), so Ronaldo’s record may already be in jeopardy!

Ronaldo’s record is in the league though.
Adebayor got one of his goals in the cup

  2. CFC_Jay says:

I reckon even if i played up front for Madrid, id be banging in at least a goal every other game!! lol!!

  3. Chris says:

    @Santi: Doh! Good spot Sir.

  4. SamHumphreys says:

Towering header was the second one. Give him credit for passing in the build-up to Ade’s goal too.. Could have had a shot for his hat-trick. Cool finish from the big Togolese striker by the way.

  5. Philaldo9 says:

For the first time in my life I feel a bit sorry for Cristiano. No matter what he does, or how impressively he does it, he’ll always be second to Messi. Messi is as superior to Cristiano as Cristiano is to everyone else below him. Messi could quite possibly be the best player in the world every year ’till he retires. Given their ages, it’ll probably be Cristiano who retires first.

Maybe he knows all this, and that’s why most of the time he looks pissed off after he scores.

  6. The Yank says:

    Get off your knees, Philaldo.

  7. Nicko says:

    Ronaldo header.. brilliant

  8. Philaldo9 says:

@ The Yank – Never. There are few men I would go gay for. Messi is one of them.

  9. Montesquieu says:

The Chinless wonder will never possess the class of Messi and Puskas, he may be ‘world’ class but he definitely has no proper upbringing. He’s a little cry baby who doesn’t know how to deal with life when he’s not getting his way.
