In which Palermo striker Fabrizio Miccoli singularly fails to hold back the flood after netting a wonderfully whipped free-kick against his boyhood club Lecce…

Having scored against the love of his life, Miccoli then had to be substituted at half-time with Rosanero coach Delio Rossi telling journalists that the diminutive forward was ‘absolutely inconsolable’ at the though of ‘injuring’ Lecce’s survival chances.
The man himself also had this to say after the game:
“It is true, I started crying and I couldn’t stop. I cried on the pitch after the goal, I cried in the dressing room. Lecce is my team and I hurt them, it is like hurting an old friend.”
Poor lickle lamb.
