Hundreds of journalists swarmed into the press room at Real Madrid’s training HQ yesterday, all hoping for a pithy one-liner from Jose Mourinho to help fan the flames before tonight’s showdown with Barcelona – only for wily ol’ Jose to pull the rug from under them all by refusing to say a word, for fear that he anything he did say would be blown out of all proportion by the ravenous hacks in attendance.

Instead it was Mourinho’s assistant, Aitor Karanka, who helmed the conference – but not before around 30 Spanish journos upped and left (along with nearly 100 television crews, if the Independent’s report is anything to go by)…

He’s an evil genius I tell thee.
