Two More Cracking Goals From The MLS: Luke Rodgers vs Toronto, Brek Shea vs Sporting KC (Videos)

By Chris Wright

The MLS is kicking out more than it’s fair share of impressive goals at the moment and, while neither of the following pair can legitimately bandied about as being ‘world-class stonkers’, both are definitely worth a second look.

First up we have New York Red Bulls (formerly of Notts County) striker Luke Rodgers’ fleet-footed zinger of a volley against Toronto FC from the other night…

Ping!

Secondly, we have a ‘one-man show’ of a goal from FC Dallas’ ridiculously versatile wunderkind Brek Shea – a 21-year old who lists his position as ‘centre-back/winger/midfielder/striker’ and who many are tipping to pick up a full call-up to the USMNT before too long…

Lovely stuff – though, once again, we must point the finger at some seriously rickety defending!

2 great goals, Ben Zemanski had a cracker for Chivas USA the other night also

  2. Mr Sceptical says:

Hmm, you’d think you were in some way sponsored by the MLS to constantly show all these goals. Neither are worthy of a post.

  3. Moop says:

The better goal fro the Dallas/K.C. game was a 45 yard shot off a set piece by Zusi. Nobody expected it and he nailed it nicely.

  4. Papi says:

Mr. Sceptical is a knob. These are a lot better than most of the goals going on at the moment, save Aguero’s screamer vs Bolivia.

Regarding the first goal – it seems some American commentaters really struggle with the concept of a lot of things in football being accident and reaction, the commentator seems adamant the player deliberately flicked the ball up to volley it, even claiming they spend time doing that in training. I would love it if that were true but he just seemed to be stretching whilst trying to control the ball and as a result it awkwardly bobbled and he just reacted to that situation brilliantly.

Also I love these mls goals, keep them coming. Mainly due to their standardly high quality. They are certainly easier to watch than when a clip of the Argentinian fourth division goes up…

  7. Jax says:

Great goals, MLS gets better every year and this season has been amazing so far, and the best is yet to come!
