Obligatory Brawl Breaks Out After Paraguay Beat Venezuela On Penalties To Reach Copa America Final (Video)

By Chris Wright

With Uruguay waiting in the final, Venezuela and Paraguay squared up in the second of the Copa America semi-finals in Mendoza last night – a little too literally…

Ah, it just wouldn’t be South America without the traditional post-match dust-up, now would it?

For the record, Paraguay beat Venezuela 5-3 on penalties after 120 minutes of goalless toil – meaning that Paraguay are in the final without actually winning a match at the tournament and that we’re now within 90(ish) minutes of Larissa Riquelme making good on her little promise.

Is it just me, or are there more people thinking along the same lines…..

If this was an English domestic game, or the national team, UEFA/FIFA would do almost anything to punish and set an example?

Widespread violence at matches in the UK is more or less non existant, obvious exceptions, NUFC V Darlo most recently.

I follow European football quite closely and in recent years there have been crazy accounts of violence on and off the pitch…Catania v Palermo for example, where a on duty cop was killed by rioting fans. Imagine if that happened in the UK, there would be hell on.

Right, rant over, back to work.

  3. Mr Boobies says:

All I’m thinking is that chick might have to strip if Paraguay win the Copa America.

What’s the deal, would she have to strip in the middle of Asunción in front of people?

    football player fight tactics:
    1. Kick, because that does something I guess
    2. Slap wildly
    3. Run away
    4. Get into a wrestling match with old men in sport coats
