By Chris Wright

In which, with Valencia’s Sergio Canales making menacing strides towards the edge of Granada’s area, the referee intervenes with one of the cleanest, perfectly-timed slide tackles you’re ever likely to see…

For the record, Canales eventually managed to get the better of his twelve oppponents, scoring Valencia’s only goal in a 1-0 win.

  1. This is a red card! Rodwell was sent off for less! :D

  2. makoto hasebe says:

this referee should sent off for two leg tackle!

  3. Tinez says:

Got to love the commitment of the referee, first he makes a crunching tackle to win possession and then he sprints up the pitch to assist in the counter-attack. Truly wonderful play.

  4. dc says:

Shouldn’t he at least do a drop-ball? What if Granada had scored on the counter? There’d be hell to pay

  5. KINGB3113 says:

@dc, I was thinking the same. Can’t believe he just allowed play to continue after intefering in the way he did.

  6. hachel says:

the same with the ball deflecting of him out of bounds, throw in for the other team. The ref is ‘air’.
