Sounds like Steaua Bucharest’s game against Petrolul Ploiesti in the Romanian top flight on Saturday evening was a bit of a feisty affair to say the least, with the game eventually being suspended by the referee after a chain reaction of mindless violence.
Firstly, a Ploiesti fan broke ranks and clocked unsuspecting Steaua defender George Galamaz across the back of the head before promptly getting a well-deserved kicking in the middle of the pitch by Galamaz’s teammates – two of which were sent off for their part in the vigilante justice…

Alternative angle, with a good view of the stewards doing there utmost to stand there and watch as the hoodlum runs about 50-yards to tonk Galamaz…

The match then resumed with Steaua leading 2-0 for all of three minutes until a flare was hurled at their ‘keeper, Ciprian Tatarusanu…

…which caused a 20-minute delay, leading the referee to cut his losses and call the whole thing off.
The fall-out? Romanian news has it that Steaua Bucharest will be awarded the game 3-0, which will come as scant consolation to Galamaz and Tatarusanu who were both rushed to hospital with ‘serious injuries’, while it looks likely that Petrolul Ploiesti will have to play behind closed doors for the next year.
Nice one chaps.
