The FFF have today announced that Lens’ Venezuelan defender Gabriel Cichero will not be allowed to play again until March 15th 2012 after being caught on CCTV assaulting Bastia director Alain Seghi in the tunnel following a match in the French second division on October 15th…

While the Bastia stadium footage is a little grainy and inconclusive, reports are claiming that, after being sent-off in the last minute of the game and brawling on the pitch for a while, Cichero then pushed Bastia president Pierre Marie Geronimi before kicking Seghi in the face – breaking his conk, jaw and fracturing his eye socket into the bargain.

Cichero has refused to apologise, claiming that he is ‘an intelligent family man with God at his side’ and that he ‘reacted normally’ to the provocation he received from the Bastia contingent on his way to the dressing room.

He is likely to appeal his five-month suspension, a move which could land him with a ten-month lay-off if unsuccessful. Bonne chance Gabriel!

should that be 2012 per chance? or is it some kind of baffling time travelling ban?

how many people does it take to address pies that they’ve made a mistake?

….one with three other people to criticize chris for making the mistake

the guys with the glasses seems to try to intimidate him, crosses in front, seems to give Cichero an elbow, he pushes back, then dude with glasses bends down RIGHT THEN AND THERE after shoving back and forth with an opposing player and the player shows him why PRIDE rules are the best.

every time i heard of this story it was ‘player mugged a director who was just standing there’, the video dont reflect that.
there was a scuffle right before the kick to the head and not for a minute do I buy that the guy was bending down to tie his shoelace,…

at 15 seconds guy with glasses turns around and sees the player, keeps walking two steps and then turns again then leans to his left into the player who has no room to pass around him, freeze frame at 18 sec and player is held by guy in track suit and dark glasses guy is clearly engaging the player. then something dropped, cellphone, keys,…something so important that in the middle of a physical confrontation with a pro athlete whose adrenaline levels must have been skyhigh, dark glasses decides to lower his head in the wheelhouse of a man whose first instinct in a fight are kick, kick and kick (did you see those glasses fly?).
whatever he dropped must have really been worth it to leave your head exposed to someone you just antagonized.
    hope it was worth it.

am i the only who finds it strange that there were no police charges involved?
i agree that dark glasses guy was being a d^^k but that usually doenst allow you to kick someone. well, cantona being a different example. but what is the difference between cantona and this guy but where the kick landed?

    innocent bystander? no.
